22 Year 10 students were chosen to take part in a fantastic opportunity with the Brokerage Citylink. The Brokerage Citylink are an independent charity providing young people in London with a ‘Pathway’ of opportunities into employment; working in partnership with employers, schools and volunteers. Their programmes are designed to raise students aspirations by showing them the opportunities available to them in the City and finance sectors, whilst bringing them in to direct contact with the realities of working life.

An afternoon at renowned international law firm Clifford Chance entailed a networking lunch, eye opening activities around routes in to the City and interview techniques. The students were then given the opportunity to turn the tables and interview volunteers from Clifford Chance. Questions asked ranged from qualifications required to become a lawyer to starting salary for a trainee solicitor.
Sean Vanelli (Hawking student) commented that the best advice he was given on the day was ‘to take negative criticism and use it constructively to better himself as a person.’
The second part of the ‘Working in the City’ programme will take place in November.
